With degrees in Nursing, Counseling and a Doctorate in Biblical Studies, she brings a multi-faceted voice to the reader. She is a lifetime member of numerous veteran and military organizations; is still an active (though much slower) athlete who has completed three triathlons, run six marathons and numerous half marathons from 1999-2012. In addition to running, Dr. Pugsley is a frequent hiker on the Appalachian Trail, facetiously remarking that she has only 1,800 miles left to finish the little dear!

This is such a moving and uplifting book. It gives hope for our young people today. It offers so much for young people as well as ideas for pastors and youth leaders to use as a basis for bringing the youth back in line with the values intended by our founding fathers and enjoyed by previous generations growing up in this great country.
DMR-5 brings a timely and powerful message to the youth of this generation and the next, skillfully woven through a fictional story and perhaps a little autobiography. I dare say, a large portion of America does NOT know the truth of how far our country has come from the intent of the founding fathers. DMR-5 brings this picture clearly to us. I wish these truths were still taught in our schools.
Pugsley infiltrates her novel with everything that's going on in American society today, and the downgrading of the country's morals, values, education, worldview, spirituality and more. Plus a very poignant, surprise ending.
Her personal military experience and concern, reflected in the main fictional character, comes from a day when Americans were patriots and taught their children that America was something special. With all its faults that skeptics are so eager to point out, America was established with the goal of, and did become, one of the most free and enabling societies in the world for over 200 years. Many of us feel that period is coming to an end. If only we could get more young people to think like the ones in this novel and be "DMR's" (you must read it to know what this means) - and resurrect our country and culture to be a respected nation in the world again, and even respected among its own young people who don't really know what a gift they have here.
A brave commentary on the state of the nation -- and a glimmer of hope if people would take ideas from its pages.
This book was written by a friend, and I was delighted with her telling of the story. The ending is fantastic and quite
a surprise.
